Women with a desire to deepen their rest practice and nourish their dreams in a supportive community. We tend to attract artists, filmmakers, photographers and cultural practitioners, but are open to participants from a range of backgrounds. We hope that includes you!

At present, we prioritise applications from BIPOC women. However, we are open to accepting people from different backgrounds with similar shared values: compassion and kindness.

Our cohorts come from all around the world! Past participants have heritage ties to all corners of the world: Ethiopia, Ghana, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Somalia, Eritrea, Sudan, Kenya, USA, UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Malaysia and Haiti.

We host our Lamu Island Rest Residency for artists and creatives twice a year, along with our Ethiopia Retreat once annually in the Simien Mountains and Addis Ababa.

At present we host in the Lamu Archipelago, Kenya and in Ethiopia. We will deepen our offerings in these locations while exploring new East African destinations.

Our group sizes range from 6 to 8 depending on the nature of the retreat. We like to keep the cohort intimate, so we can be attentive to each of our guests. This way, we have the spaciousness to form meaningful connections to develop among our guests.

Yes. There is a non-refundable deposit to hold your spot and then your payments are scheduled one month after that. If you would like an extended payment plan all you have to do is ask and we will work to accommodate you.

We welcome collaborations and partnerships with guest Artists, Chefs, and Cultural practitioners. We especially welcome individuals with African heritage, based on the continent or in the diaspora who want to explore creative partnerships with us. In the past, we’ve worked with chefs, yoga instructors, bodywork practitioners, photographers based in Kenya and Ethiopia. If this sounds aligned with your body of work — reach out!

Resting and dreaming is a practice. We encourage our participants to arrive at our retreats and residencies curious and open to connecting within, and among their cohort. We invite you to share your dreams in our communal dreaming workshops and be held by the Zami Collective tapestry they are now part of.
